Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
Employment
The Supervisor of Elections does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.
Effective Communication
The Supervisor of Elections will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services to ensure effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in Supervisor of Elections programs, services and activities. Such aids and services may include, but are not limited to, sign language interpreters, documents in alternate format, Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing or vision impairments.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures
The Supervisor of Elections will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcome in Supervisor of Elections offices, even where pets are generally prohibited.
The ADA does not require the Supervisor of Elections to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
The Supervisor of Elections will not charge a qualified individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modifications of policies or procedures.
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the ADA, the Supervisor of Elections will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, activities or facilities.
The Supervisor of Elections is committed to ensuring that its digital service delivery channels, including www.votemiamidade.gov, provide equal access to all users, regardless of ability. The Supervisor of Elections has adopted the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA (WCAG 2.1, AA) as its standard and has implemented processes, that aim to continually improve the accessibility and usability of our digital services.
